Nurturing hearts, families, and classrooms in the Catholic faith
Hi! My name is Lori, and I have been a faith education teacher at my parish for nearly ten years. Pelican Art & Design began right in my classroom, born from a simple desire to bring the beauty, history, and truth of the Catholic faith into our daily life. I started combining my love for art, design, and the faith by making prayer sheets to help my students learn the Catholic prayers. That quickly led to creating original saint drawings, designed to help the children learn more about the great men and women of the Church.
My path from catechist to shop owner took an unexpected turn at Christmas of 2022. I designed a spiritual bouquet for our parish priest, filled with hundreds of prayers collected from all of our faith formation families. When a friend saw it, she asked for one for her own parish priest and suggested that I start selling them on Etsy. After a few months of prayer and thoughtful reflection, I officially opened Pelican Art & Design.
You might wonder why I chose a pelican for my shop name and logo. The pelican is a beautiful symbol of Christ and the Eucharist. A mother pelican would pierce her own chest to feed and give life to her dying young with her own blood. This powerful imagery mirrors Christ’s ultimate sacrifice for us on the Cross and the life-giving food of the Blessed Sacrament.
Whether you are gifting a spiritual bouquet card to a loved one, guiding children through the Stations of the Cross with a coloring book, or introducing them to their first heavenly role models with my original Saint coloring pages, every design is created with prayer and devotion. I hope these resources become companions on your family’s journey toward holiness.
Here's to celebrating our beautiful Catholic faith in a creative and meaningful way!
